Polysemic Images

Polysemic stems from the greek word polysemy, which is the capacity for a sign to have multiple meanings.

In class we looked at the image below, and were told to right down different connotations the image connotes. This made us think about the meaning of images, and how different people may think different things from looking at the same image.

  • Farmer dies and leaves house abandoned
  • Renovations start of Elvis Presley’s former house
  • Cats chase owners out of house, leaving it derelict
  • The farming industry has taken a turn for the worst
